How to use FloorDesk
THE DAILY FLOW
- Catalog — search by product name, SKU, or color. Open a product to see every color/size with live stock, restock dates, vendor, and ship timing.
- + Add to cart on the colors you're quoting — each lands in Margins as an editable row.
- Margins — set the unit price (pre-filled with the flooringinc.com price), quantity, and an optional Disc % per line. Enter the ship-to ZIP + state for live freight and an automatic sales-tax estimate.
- The Deal Summary updates as you type: freight, tax, totals, and the decision. If more than one carrier is offered, pick one from the dropdown on the line.
- Outside your limits? Request approval — an approver decides in the Approvals tab. Nothing is ever applied automatically.
WHAT THE DECISION MEANS
Approved — the deal clears the margin floor; the line under it says how much more room you have (product % / shipping $).
Manager approval required — send it for sign-off from the Margins screen.
Not permitted — below the hard floor; adjust the price or request an exception.
Everyone sees the decision, the room left and the deal's blended margin % in the Deal Summary — approved or not. Cost always stays hidden: per-line cost (COG) and per-line margin are approver-only.
GOOD TO KNOW
Sales tax auto-fills from the ship-to ZIP (an approximate estimate — checkout is exact). It shows in the totals but is never counted in margin. "Tax exempt" zeroes it; typing a value overrides it.
Residential delivery — checked means a home address: carriers add a residential surcharge to LTL freight. Uncheck for a commercial address with a dock; freight is usually cheaper.
Rolls & measured goods are priced per linear/sq ft — enter the length in feet as the quantity.
Same product, several lines — every "+ Add to cart" click creates its own row, so you can quote the same color twice (e.g. two cut lengths, or a split price) and set each row's qty, price, and Disc % independently.
Drop-ship items ship from the vendor, so there's no stock count — the badge shows the vendor lead time instead.
Notifications — the 🔔 bell. Approvers get an alert when a rep requests approval (checked about every 45 seconds); the rep gets one back when it's decided.
Approvals tab — approvers see the whole team's queue and decide there; you always see your own requests and their status. No one can approve their own request.
Discount rules
Auto-approve is OFF; verdicts are advisory until a rule is set active.
